Food Bank Volunteer
Thanks to community donations, services, groups, churches and members, the SFCSC Food Bank can provide 5-7 days of food staples, including bread, milk, eggs, fresh fruit, vegetables, school lunch snacks, and some protein selections to low-income households. Upon eligibility approval, South Frontenac Township residents can access the Food Bank once a month.
When: Volunteer activities take place primarily Monday through Friday, during business hours. Some roles such as Pick-up/Delivery or Purchasing may have opportunities outside of those hours.
Volunteer Roles:

Stocking/Packing: Carry, unload and properly receive all incoming food. This includes weighing and recording food, auditing shelves for expired stock, rotating stock and ensuring bulk foods are properly re-packaged for distribution.

Pick-up/Delivery Driver: Assist with weekly donation pick up from community sponsors/donors. In addition, coordinate the delivery of food hampers.

Guided Shopping: Provide assistance to clients in using the shopping model, and choosing perishable food items. Provide clients with information/educational materials as available. Offer and provide client assistance in transporting food hamper to their vehicle.

Purchasing: Purchase food items as directed by the Food Bank Coordinator.

Inventory: Conduct a daily inventory of perishable items and provide report to Food Bank Coordinator. Monitor non-perishable stock and make recommendations for managing over/under-stocked items.
