Adult Day Service Volunteer

 

The adult day program provides physical, cognitive, creative and social activities in a safe and social atmosphere for persons aged 55+ who may be living with cognitive or physical barriers, frail conditions or social isolation

 

When: The Adult Day Program runs Monday – Friday from 9am – 3:30pm.  Volunteers are booked in based on their role preference and availability.

 

Volunteer Roles:

 

  • Activity Assistant: Work independently with a client, or work with the staff in a group setting.  Assist clients with activities such as reading, puzzles and crafts.  Assist the staff leader with facilitating group activities and games such as bowling or parachute.

  • Entertainer or Activities Leader:  Volunteers with special skills or talents can lead our participants through activities such as low-impact exercise class, music or crafts, with support from program staff.

  • Drivers: Drivers provide transportation to program participants, picking them up at their homes and bringing them to Grace Centre and ensuring safe return at the end of the program day.
